James Monroe Interview Posted by Demolisher on Sunday, April 22, 2001
Elite Force Modcentral has conducted a great interview with James Monroe on the Elite Force Expansion Pack. He discusses both the multiplayer and single player parts of it. Here is a preview:EFMC: The single player experience, will it take you a lot of time to finish it? Many people thought that the original STV:EF was a little bit short. Will it take longer to finish the add-on? (Personally I think a good game is always too short, it are the bad ones that take forever :) )
JM: eheh. Yes, when the game is good, you always wish it were longer. There are a LOT of decks to cover in Virtual Voyager and tons of little secrets to discover. You could easily spend days finding it all. Of course, that won't stop somebody from just blazing through all the levels - but then you won't get the groovy victory ending!

Elite Force Patch News Posted by Demolisher on Wednesday, April 18, 2001
James Monroe updated his .plan with news about the next Elite Force patch:re: HM Patch 1.20 i wish i had more time to merge in MORE updates... but as it is i barely had enough time to get in some of the much needed fixes. what i did fix is the pure authentication disconnect issue. that was my main objective and i got it done. we also got a lot of memory saving enhancements and unlimited sound loading. (sounds are no longer reloaded each level so map-to-map might be a tiny bit faster now). the menu no longer precaches all the weapon models at startup (you can if you want by setting ui_precacheweapons 1) so that loads a bit faster as well. there is now a console cmd to ShowIP and Remote server info, and the scoreboard now tells you the gametypes. Also, per Mr. Allan's request, i defaulted a bunch of game vars to be included in the ServerInfo request.

Holomatch News Posted by Demolisher on Tuesday, April 10, 2001
James Monroe updated his .plan with good news for many people, including myself, with trouble connecting to different Elite Force Holomatch servers:joy o joy. i have been trying to merge in some newer q3 point updates into HoloMatch. (remember our only point release was way back on q3 1.17) I think this update will solve the troubles people have been having with pure servers stupidly not allowing clients to connect.

Gamespot has posted a great interview with Activision producer Graham Fuchs on the Elite Force expansion pack. Here is a preview:GS: How many levels does the new single-player campaign encompass?
GF: There are 10 decks of the Voyager that you will be able to explore in tour mode, and there are three new missions to play in the holodeck: a Captain Proton mission, straight from the TV show (it is even in Black and White!), [a] Raid [of] a Klingon Stronghold, and a Garden Relaxation Program, which winds up not being all that relaxing. Plus, there is a fun "Borg slayer" video game hidden somewhere on the ship.
