 Elite Force Review
 Posted by Demolisher on Wednesday, March 14, 2001

Caesar, beware the ides of March because today we have a really great review of Elite Force on GamePen. They give our favorite game 4.5 stars! Here is a preview:
The levels are gorgeous, some even stunning. The Borg Cube, and some of the latter levels, have expansive areas imaginatively done. There is one scene on the exterior of The Forge that is breathtaking. As great as they look, though, they tend to be very linear. For the most part, it's "Open Door To Get To Next Level" problem solving, but the writing is so good, it's well-hidden.

 Mission Pack Interview
 Posted by Demolisher on Tuesday, March 6, 2001

Stomped has conducted an interivew with Kenn Hoekstra about the mission pack. Here is a preview:
Stomped: Will the Voyager TV cast return to voice their characters in the mission pack?

Hoekstra: The T.V. cast will, indeed, provide their voices for the expansion pack. However, the only new lines that were recorded specifically for the add-on were for the computer voice. Fortunately, we recorded tons of dialogue for the original game and the expansion pack allows us to put it to good use.

 Laz's Third NPC Pack
 Posted by Demolisher on Monday, March 5, 2001

Laz of Elite Farce has made a third pak of spawnable NPC's for single player Elite Force. Here are the details:
Zpak3 is now available for download. In addition to 75 new NPCs that you can spawn, here are some of the things it does to the single-player game:

1) Every crewmember aboard Voyager (except Seven and Neelix) has a First Contact uniform;
2) All Hazard Team members wear new, updated hazard suits;
3) Tom Paris has correct rank pips (lieutenant j.g.);
4) Janeway's name is spelled correctly when scanned with tricorder (Kathryn, not Catherine);
5) Uniforms hanging in hazard team lockers are FC uniforms;
6) Seven wears her blue outfit.

Be sure to read the enclosed text file for a list of all the new NPCs.

 Raven Software Job Opening - Character Animator
 Posted by Za0oO on Thursday, March 1, 2001

Raven Software just got a big hole in their team, will you be able to patch that hole? Well you could, if you're a talented Character Animator and you think you've got the qualifications;
  • Ability to demonstrate an understanding of motion (timing, weight, secondary motion also called follow through/overlapping action) with a character.
  • Low poly modeling techniques will be considered.
  • Ability to draw is a plus.
  • Ability to work under strict deadlines and do what is necessary to meet deadlines.

Raven model and animate their characters in the Softimage line of products, and they're currently running Softimage|XSI. Working knowledge of Softimage is a plus but not necessarily required. They are willing to train on the job but the qualifying candidate must be open to different software packages and withhold no allegiance to any one.

Submissions should be the best of your character animations and must be your work only. Include loops like a walk and run cycle, deaths, and other interesting dynamic action. An animation of a bouncing ball is acceptable but flying spaceships is not character animation. You can send samples via e-mail, ftp, html, CD, or VHS.
